Helping Penny Build Her Confidence

Penny is 3 year old Dalmatian Girl who has been with Bruce’s Country Hills for 7 months.

Penny had very low confidence when she first started at Bruce’s. She was very fearful of both staff and of other dogs. For Penny’s first few sessions we worked with her on a 1-2-1 basis, focusing on building her trust and confidence in the staff.

Once Penny began to form bonds with the staff we slowly integrated her into the main group of dogs. This was a gradual process for Penny – meeting the dogs one-on-one slowly – to ensure we didn’t overwhelm her, or increase her anxiety.

A Changed Dog

When we look at how Penny gets on now, I can hardly believe she used to be so shy!

We as a team are so proud of Penny and how far she has come in such a short time with us, she loves daycare now and has so many friends! (both doggy and human).

Everyone on the team loves Penny and is super proud of her! We love seeing her have fun and how confidently she interact with the other pooches. She is just another case that proved the socialisation our dogs get at Bruce’s really does work wonders.

Her Favourite Enrichment Activity

Penny is a food loving pup!

Out of all of the enrichment activities we do with the dog, Penny loves anything food based! She especially loves the salmon oil sensory trails, where they get to explore, sniff and find treats along the way.

A message from Penny’s pawrents…

“We chose Bruce’s doggy day care for Penny as we wanted somewhere for her to go that we could trust and would get her out of the house for the day. Bruce’s matched perfectly for this and we have been using Bruce’s for around 7 months now.

We have noticed that Penny is a lot more confident with new people and new dogs since coming to day care. Day care benefits us as it breaks up Penny’s days/week whilst I am at work. It’s a good way for her to be mixing with new people and dogs whilst I am in the office for the day.”
