Carrot’s Day Care Journey

Carrot is an mixed breed dog who joined Cookham Doggy Day Care when he was 5 years old.

Carrot didn’t have the best start in life. His owners rescued him from a kill shelter in Romania. Due to this he lacked confidence around other dogs and people. He became very anxious around people he didn’t know and was showing signs of fear aggression. This was through no fault of his own so his owners were keen to help him.

When he initially started at Bruce’s he would keep a large distance from any dog or carer as he was nervous and fearful. Our team worked with him at his own pace to show him there was nothing to be afraid of. Our dog socialisation focus played such in a big part in the transformation Carrot has been through.

He has come so far in the 3 years he has been with us. He now initiates play with other dogs and even approaches our carers for cuddles. He is such a happy boy and it is so nice to see how he can finally relax with other people and dogs around him.

Carrots Favourite Enrichment Week

My Doggy Valentines!

This sweet natured boy loves our valentines enrichment week. A time where we have even more reasons to give our dogs kisses and cuddles. Bruce’s loves to create enrichment activites for our dogs to enjoy throughout the year. Since carrot has grown in confidence he now loves to get involved too!

“We chose to join because Carrot was a nervous and withdrawn towards dogs and people. He was very shut down due to being in a poorly kept public kill shelter in Romania, he was underweight due to the conditions of the shelter.”
