Regular Walks

Taking your puppy on regular daily dog walks near your home can help them meet other local dogs and people.

On dog walks, not only can they make some new friends, you might too! Walking is a great form of exercise where your pup can explore new smells and surroundings. To it also a great way for them to meet new friendly dogs to interact with.

Dog Parks

Dog parks are specially designed enclosed areas where dogs and puppies can run, play, and interact off the lead.

A great place for them to build their socialisation skills. These are great spaces that take away the worry of pup running off. Many of these are available to hire privately and include enrichment toys for your dogs including balls and agility courses. DogParksNearMe is a great site that can help find a local one near you.

Dog-friendly Beaches

Taking your puppy for a beach day is a great way to spend the day as a family and socialise with other friendly dogs.

Running and swimming has many benefits for your dog. Digging holes and generally having fun is great enrichment. Some beaches do have restrictions in peak summer periods so make sure you check before you go.

Choose a Socialisation Space to Suit Your Dog

Some dog breeds are more social than others so when looking at where to go to socialise your puppy, have a think about what they might enjoy.

A quiet lie down in a beer garden may be more suitable than a zoomy round a busy park. Keeping an eye on your dog’s body language and behaviour is always important too. If you can see your dog seems uncomfortable or anxious you can act on it to ensure they have a positive socialisation experience.
