Location: Altrincham, Greater Manchester
Just a stone’s throw from Altrincham town centre and round the corner from our new day care centre you will find Dunham Massey. This is another National Trust site that’s a firm favourite with local dog owners. Choose from its formal gardens, wildflower meadows or ancient deer park. Surrounded by history and nature, it is a walk that’s as beautiful as it is relaxing.
Why Dunham Massey is great for dogs:
- Deer Park Strolls: Scenic routes through open parkland. Just be mindful of the resident deer!
- Shady Woodland Paths: Perfect for cooling down on a sunny day.
- Bridgewater Canal Walk: A peaceful, flat trail ideal for older dogs or when you’re looking for an easy stroll.
Dunham Massey is also home to a dog-friendly courtyard café, so you can enjoy a hot drink and a rest.
Again Dunham Massey does require dogs to stay on leads in certain places. There are still plenty of large stretches of open grassland where your dog can run free, just check the rules before you take off the lead.
